In a bit more than a week’s time INTERSOG CEO Igor Fedulov will be giving a presentation on Near Field Communication (NFC for short) at an eFactor event in Chicago. Now, if you’re like most people the first questions you’re likely asking yourself right now are along the lines of “What’s NFC? and Why should I care?”. The long and short of it is that NFC builds on existing RFID Technology to provide users with a means of touch-based data exchange between devices that’s simpler and doesn’t require power to work. It has a shorted working range (up to 4 inches where as RFIDs can transmit from up to a few meters away) but is much more specialized towards uses where security is a must. Unlike RFIDs whose uses are much more broad but much less secure as well. Now for the good stuff. Why NFC could be an important innovation in every-day data transmission situations: NFC technology represents a logical and easily implementable step forward from using QR codes. Whether used as a way to view information, market products, promote movies, or in any of the fashions QR codes are currently utilized, NFC data points can do the same jobs more quickly, flexibly, and with less tech needed. Users don’t need a camera or a scanning application to get data from NFC data points, nor do they need direct line of sight. Furthermore there are fewer steps that users need to go through to access data from NFC points in comparison to accessing data via QR codes. Simply put it’s a one touch system, there’s no need to take photos and process data through applications. One click and the info you needs is yours. NFC tags also have the added benefit of supporting peer-to-peer connections as well. If this sounds interesting, then Igor’s presentation on the matter – which is meant as an NFC concept introduction of sorts – should be right up your alley. The talk will dive in-depth into other advantages of NFC tagging as well as the brass tacks on where this technology can go from a technical perspective as well as how it can be implemented from a business perspective. The presentation is set to go off on August 23rd at the eFactor Event in Chicago, Illinois. Artyom Diogtev - Head of Social Media |
